North East University Bangladesh Hosts Emotional Alumni Gathering of Mathematics Graduates
Sylhet, August 23, 2025:
The Mathematics and Informatics Department of North East University Bangladesh hosted a heartwarming alumni gathering today for its MSc graduates from the 2016–17 academic session. The day-long program, which began at 10 a.m. on the university campus, was filled with joy, nostalgia, and vibrant camaraderie.
The event’s chief guest was the department’s former Head and current Associate Professor of the CSE Department, Rathindra Chandra Gope, who delivered an emotional and inspiring address. He said:
“Today is one of the happiest moments of my life. Seeing the students I once guided in classrooms now established in their respective careers and returning to campus fills me with immense pride. Mathematics doesn’t just teach equations; it teaches us to live a disciplined and logical life. I am proud that you have applied that knowledge in real life and are illuminating society with your contributions.”
He further added:
“This campus was our second home. Your success is the greatest recognition of our efforts as teachers. I hope you will continue to contribute to the nation’s development, technology, and research in the years to come.”
During the program, several alumni delivered nostalgic and emotional speeches, including Abdul Wadud, Mizanur Rahman, Ajay Kumar Dash, Nipendra Dash, Kamruzzaman, Habibur Rahman, Emdadul Islam Talukder, Humayun Kabir, Bishwanath Dash, and Arbindu, among others. They fondly recalled their student life, their teachers’ guidance, and the bond of friendship that made their time at NEUB unforgettable. Many expressed that the alumni meet would remain one of the most memorable moments of their lives.
After offering Zuhr prayers, the attendees enjoyed a delightful lunch together. In the afternoon, the campus came alive with a lively cultural program featuring regional songs, Bhatiali, and folk music, which added even more color and emotion to the occasion.
The gathering was filled with laughter, tears, cherished memories, and a renewed commitment to stay connected and support each other in the future. The event concluded with alumni expressing their desire to organize such gatherings regularly.
This heartfelt alumni meet once again proved that—just like the eternal formulas of mathematics—the bonds between teachers and students remain timeless.
