President Erdoğan at OIC Meeting: “Our Region Cannot Afford Another War
Istanbul, June 21, 2025 — STVGlobal Report
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan delivered a powerful address at the 51st session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), calling for unity among Muslim nations and cautioning against escalating regional tensions.
Speaking in Istanbul before delegates from over 50 Muslim-majority countries, Erdoğan warned, “Our region cannot bear the burden of another war.” His remarks came in the wake of Israel’s recent airstrikes on Iranian territory, which he strongly condemned as provocative and strategically disruptive.
Israel’s Actions Undermine Peace Talks, Says Erdoğan
President Erdoğan emphasized that Israel’s attacks were not just military maneuvers but deliberate attempts to derail nuclear negotiations between Iran and the United States. “These strikes are meant to sabotage diplomacy and destroy the chance for peace,” he said, urging Western powers to recognize the destabilizing nature of Israel’s approach.
He went further, accusing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of being “a major obstacle to peace” and stressed that “redrawing borders with bloodshed” must not be tolerated.
A Call for Muslim Unity and Legal Action
Erdoğan appealed to Muslim nations to adopt a stronger, unified position on the international stage. “It is time the Islamic world demands accountability. We must work together to impose punitive measures on Israel in line with international law and UN resolutions,” he stated.
He also criticized the blind support Israel receives from certain Western countries, describing it as toxic to peace efforts. “We must not allow the poison of blind solidarity to blind us from justice,” Erdoğan added.
Support for Renewed Iran–U.S. Nuclear Talks
Expressing Turkey’s readiness to facilitate dialogue, Erdoğan signaled Ankara’s willingness to act as a mediator between Tehran and Washington. He called for an urgent resumption of nuclear negotiations, highlighting the necessity of diplomacy over conflict.
“Turkey stands ready to support immediate diplomatic steps to bring both sides back to the table,” he asserted.
