Mawlid in the City 2025: Rotherham Community Spreads Peace and Love
Mushtaq Tufail, Rotherham, South Yorkshire:
The town of Rotherham, South Yorkshire, witnessed a heartwarming celebration of Mawlid in the City 2025, marking the birth anniversary of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). The event, organized by the Madina Islamic Centre Rotherham with the support of its volunteers and management committee, turned the city centre’s All Saints Square into a hub of peace, joy, and unity.
The local Muslim community engaged warmly with non-Muslims and interfaith groups, distributing roses, sweets, chocolates, greeting cards, and informative leaflets to spread the message of love, compassion, and harmony. The initiative received strong support from local authorities.
Distinguished guests included Deputy Lord Mayor Councillor Haroon Rashid, Mayor Councillor Ruksana Ismahil, and respected community activist Haji Abdul Qayauim Jamati, along with many other civic leaders.
Lead Imam of the Madina Islamic Centre, Hafiz Sadqat Hussain, highlighted the overwhelming positive response:
“Through this celebration, we shared the values of peace, respect, and love taught by the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). The smiles and happiness expressed by the public encouraged us greatly.”
Hundreds of people from diverse backgrounds—Muslim and non-Muslim, of all ages and walks of life—participated and warmly received the gifts. The gesture not only built bridges across communities but also helped dispel misconceptions about Islam, reinforcing community unity and cohesion.
Organizers described the program as an overwhelming success, noting that the “Mawlid in the City” stall was inundated with interest from the public. The fragrance of roses and the joy of sharing simple tokens of love created an atmosphere of harmony in the heart of the town.
In closing, the Madina Islamic Centre extended heartfelt thanks to all attendees, volunteers, and supporters.
“Alhamdulillah, our annual Mawlid in the City was a truly beautiful success. May Allah reward everyone involved and allow us to continue spreading the light of the Prophet ﷺ,” the statement read.
