Shibir-backed Panel Wins Big in DUCSU Election
The Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir-backed United Students’ Alliance has secured a landslide victory in the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) election. The final results, announced on Wednesday morning, show that the panel won all three top posts along with several key positions.
For the Vice President (VP) post, Shibir-backed candidate Sadiq Kayem bagged 14,042 votes, while his closest rival, BNP’s student wing-backed candidate Abidul Islam Khan, managed only 5,708 votes.
In the General Secretary (GS) race, SM Forhad won with 10,794 votes, defeating his nearest rival Hamim (BNP-backed), who secured 5,283 votes.
For Assistant General Secretary (AGS), Mohiuddin Khan was elected with 11,772 votes, while his closest rival, Tanvir Al Hadi Mayed, received 5,064 votes.

- Research & Publication Secretary: Sanjida Ahmed Tonbi (Independent) – won with 11,777 votes
- Sports Secretary: Arman Hossain
- Student Transport Secretary: Asif Abdullah
- Social Welfare Secretary: Zubair Bin Neshari (Independent)
- Career Development Secretary: Mazharul Islam
- Health & Environment Secretary: MM Al Minhaj
- Human Rights & Legal Affairs Secretary: Md Zakaria
Voter Turnout and Election Process
This year, 471 candidates contested for 28 central posts in DUCSU, while 1,035 candidates competed for 234 hall-level positions.
There were 39,874 registered voters, including 18,959 from five female dormitories and 20,915 from 13 male dormitories.
The election was held on Tuesday (September 9) from 8 AM to 4 PM. Voting took place peacefully, and results were officially announced the following morning.
