District Jamaat Stands by River Erosion Victims in Sylhet, Provides Financial Assistance
Sylhet Office: Five families in Fatehpur Purbo Para of Bhadeshwar Union under Golapganj Upazila in Sylhet have lost their homes after severe river erosion swept the area. The sudden disaster has left the affected families in extreme hardship, struggling for shelter and basic necessities.
In response, Maulana Habibur Rahman, Ameer of Sylhet District Jamaat-e-Islami, visited the affected area and met with the victims. He listened to their concerns, expressed sympathy, and offered words of comfort during this difficult time.
On behalf of the district Jamaat, Maulana Habibur Rahman also distributed immediate financial assistance among the affected families to help them meet urgent needs. Additionally, he spoke over the phone with the Golapganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer and the Sylhet District Administration, urging them to take prompt and effective measures to prevent further river erosion.
Speaking to locals, he emphasized that river erosion is an ongoing challenge that requires permanent and sustainable solutions, not just temporary relief. He assured that Sylhet District Jamaat would continue to stand by the affected people as part of its humanitarian responsibility.
Local residents warned that continued erosion poses a serious threat to more homes and agricultural land in the area, calling for swift and durable preventive action to avoid further losses.
